Focus on reducing energy consumption
Environmental policy:
Around 2% of the world’s total CO2 impact comes from the use of IT. As data volumes rise explosively, more and more data centres are being established with increased energy consumption, which will further affect this.
Save power
In collaboration with selected suppliers, we have tools that can calculate potential savings in energy consumption – and, at the same time, CO2 emissions. These calculations will, to a large extent, always be included as part of our consulting and tendering in connection with the purchase of new equipment or the replacement of existing equipment in the data centre. Our office facilities have intelligent lighting that automatically turns on and off as needed and also measures natural daylight. Our electricity consumption for indoor lighting is, for example, significantly lower in the seasons when there is daylight for large parts of the day.
Transport
SEC DATACOM is represented in four countries and has partners from all over the world. We are aware that transport from driving and flying constitutes a significant CO2 impact. To maintain our efficiency, reduce our costs and at the same time minimise our CO2 impact from transport, all employees are encouraged, where possible, to communicate virtually with customers, suppliers and colleagues across national borders. Video conferencing equipment is available at all locations for holding virtual meetings – whether with few or many participants.
